Fall Colors 2008: CL Vs. Pantone Vs. Nature
With the official start of fall (September 22nd) quickly approaching, we thought it was time to check out this year’s fall color predictions from a few different sources, and watch to see what color actually appear this upcoming season. So, today were going to take a look at the colors from the Pantone Fashion Color Report fall 2008, the current top colors on COLOURlovers, along with mother nature’s picks.(via COLOURlovers)

GDUSA is a monthly publication geared towards creative professionals everywhere. It comes to you at the whopping price of FREE if you are a legitimate creative professional in the US. I’ve been recieving GDUSA for about a year and a half now and have never been the least bit disappointed in the content it has provided.
This past month’s issue contains the American Inhouse Design Awards which I finally got the opportunity to catch up on last night. There is definitely some great work in there which, as always, makes it a stellar place for inspiration.

Okay, so truth be told, I nearly forgot this tool existed until today. I had to create a new button for a website to add to the navigation, however, the original layered files could not be found. I am sure that anyone doing any sort of design work, big or small, has come across this little headache-inducing dilemma at some point. Well What The Font is the solution of champs. It’s not always perfect, but at least it helps when it can!

For years, I refused to purchase an iPod for a certain someone in my life (hint: she gave birth to me). I tried your $29.99 deals you find on sites like Computer Geeks. I tried one of the older generation iRiver players. In essence, anything but an iPod. Of course, she eventually went out and bought one on her own.
The other devices all worked well and good (for the most part). But the thing that really bugged me was that my mom called every one of them “iPods.” I found it slightly annoying and amusing all at once.
Making the “grand slam” in design means making your product the benchmark against which all other products will inevitably fail. Kind of.

- GDF: GDF is one of the oldest and biggest graphic design forums around with over 20k members. The community is very active, very large and consists of a a variety of general categories.
- HOWDesign: The HOWDesign forums are great for showcasing your work and getting constructive feedback from other designers. They also have a very active business and freelance section where you can ask questions and find a lot of useful tips.
- Estetica: Estetica is very popular, but tends to lean more towards chatting for enjoyment rather then for knowledge. Their off topics section is perfect for chatting with other designers about anything, but design. So if you are looking to chat with people who share common interests, than this is the graphic design forum for you.
- All Graphic Design: The All Graphic Design forums are very old and have an extremely active general design section where members chat about all kinds of design news and articles. They also have a great pre press section for designers looking for advice on printing and setting up files.
- Your Design Forums: Your Design Forums is You the Designer’s official Graphic Design Forum. YDF is one of the newer graphic design forums in the design community, but is growing quickly and has a very active core user base that is quick to respond to questions and other posts.

As a freelancer, I’m lucky enough to be able to choose what surrounds me. Currently this is my space.
If you do have to work for a corporation though, it’s nice to work for one that cares enough about you to put a little thought into your work environment.
